WILLIAMSBURG, KY (Tennis) – The Bears were unable to get in a rhythm, as they fell to the Cumberlands in the season opener by 9-0 on Tuesday afternoon at the University of the Cumberlands Tennis Facility.

The match-up of No. 1s in singles combination featured Isabelle Dale taking on Molly Richards (FR/Washington Courthouse, Ohio). Richards was defeated 6-0, 6-0 to open up the contest. Katy Singer (FR/Lucasville, Ohio) fell in the second match by the same score.

Kendi Kistler (SO/Chillicothe, Ohio), Caleigh O'Neil (FR/Greenup, Ky.) and Kiersten McGraw (FR/New Boston, Ohio) all came out on the losing end of 6-0, 6-0 defeats. Mara McGee (SO/Baltimore, Ohio) concluded the singles competition for the Bears losing her match by a final of 4-0

Doubles play opened with Richards and Singer dropping their contest 8-0. The matchup of twos featured Kistelr and O'Neil losing 8-0. Doubles play concluded with McGee and McGraw falling 8-0.

SSU will return to action Thursday at the University of Pikeville. The match is scheduled for a noon start.
