Georgetown, Ky. (Tennis) – Shawnee State would drop their fifth straight match to start the 2015 season with an 8-1 loss to Georgetown College on Wednesday afternoon at Lackey Tennis Center.
Nicole Harmon (FR/Shelby, Ohio) obtained the lone win for the Bears. She defeated GC's Emily Novak with an 8-5 victory in a pro set at the No. 4 singles spot.
In the No. 1 singles matchup, Jacqueline Otis defeated Shelbie Wulfekamp (SR/Maysville, Ky.) for Georgetown College in a pair of 6-0 sets. The same result occurred in the No. 6 singles matchup, as SSU's Mara Mcgee fell to Nicole Miracle in two 6-0 sets.
Brianna Boggs (SO/Wheelersburg, Ohio) played well in the first set for the Bears in the No. 2 singles spot, but she would be defeated by Shae Henry in 7-5 and 6-0 sets. Emily Waugh (FR/Wheelersburg, Ohio) would fall in a 9-7 pro set, and Kendi Kistler (FR/Chillicothe, Ohio) lost in two sets, scored 6-1 and 6-0.
The Bears failed to earn any wins in the doubles competitions. At the No. 1 spot, Wulfkamp/Boggs couldn't get it done against GC's Swanson/Henry as they lost with the 8-1 set. Shawnee's Waugh/Harmon failed to defeat Georgetown's Fiepke/Otis in the No. 2 spot, losing 8-3. Kistler/Snyder were swept at the No. 3 doubles spot, losing 8-0 at the hands of Robers/Novak.
