The Shawnee State Volleyball Team picked up their third consecutive win as they easily defeated West Virginia Tech, sweeping the Golden Bears in three sets. Shawnee State took the match winning by scores of 25-10, 25-18 and 25-12 to improve to 4-8 on the season. West Virginia Tech falls to 1-5 overall.
Offensively, Shawnee State only committed seven errors at the net in the game, while 12 Bears' recorded kills in the match. The balanced offense was led by junior Alex Pohl's six kills. Pohl went without an error on the night. Junior Holly Tobias added five kills, while senior Shaye Berry, sophomore Hannah Gephart and freshman Devan Scarberry each added four kills on the night. Sophomore Hannah Gephart had an all-around good night as she set up 30 assists to go along with 11 digs, three kills and two service aces. Sophomore Kirsti Yates was the only Bear with double figure digs as she tallied 19 on the night.
Shawnee State host St. Xavier and Northwestern Ohio on Saturday in a tri-match. The Bears' open play against St. Xavier at 11:00 a.m. St. Xavier and Northwestern Ohio will face each other in match two and the final game will feature Shawnee State and Northwestern Ohio at approximately 3:00 p.m.
